CC Sabathia appeared relaxed and comfortable at his opening press conference as a Yankee, flashing a $161 million grin and offering some words that could help his relationship with the infamous New York media.
“I’m me. I’m always going to be me,” Sabathia said when asked how he would handle the media crush. “I’m going to stand in front of my locker and answer questions whether it’s 100 reporters at my locker or whether it’s five. … You’re kinda gonna get the same thing from me every day. I’m not afraid of telling you how I feel, whether I pitched good or bad.”
Rarely discussed among all the thoughts of playing in New York is just how valuable such accountability can be for a player—especially one of Sabathia’s stature.

Nick Willhite, a hard-throwing left-hander for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1960s, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 67.
